Manchester United have opened talks to sign Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz in a loan-to-buy deal, journalist Wayne Veysey has claimed.
The Red Devils have identified the Brazilian international as a potential reinforcement for Ruben Amorim’s midfield this summer and are believed to be front-runners to secure his signature.
Luiz is expected to depart Juventus before the transfer window shuts and has no shortage of suitors in the Premier League, with Everton, Leeds, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest all interested.
The 27-year-old midfielder, who joined the Italian side from Aston Villa last summer, has four years remaining on his current contract.

Veysey claims Juventus are keen to offload Luiz this summer and would prefer permanent offers rather than a short-term exit.
Man United are reportedly willing to negotiate a loan-to-buy deal for the Brazil international, with Amorim particularly keen on bolstering his midfield with Luiz.
Luiz, praised as ‘world-class’, has made just six starts for Juventus across all competitions since joining last year, amassing a total of 877 minutes of game time.
The 27-year-old also made just a single appearance during the Club World Cup, where Juventus were eliminated in the Round of 16 following a 1-0 loss to Real Madrid.
Man United remain focused on rebuilding their attacking options this summer, as talks continue over the potential arrival of Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo.
The Red Devils welcomed Matheus Cunha as their first and only senior signing of the summer last month and are still expected to pair Mbeumo with him up front next season, despite lengthy negotiations with Brentford.
