Player rejects Crystal Palace – Eagles not the first side knocked back

AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw has turned down proposals from Como and Crystal Palace.

Thiaw made 31 appearances for AC Milan last season as an inconsistent starter for the Italian side.

It was reported a couple of days ago by Gazzetta dello Sport that Thiaw had turned down Como, which opened the door for Premier League teams. Despite a move to England’s top flight seeming more attractive to the player, the 23-year-old has now also rejected a move to Crystal Palace, according to Milan Live.

Thiaw is waiting for an offer that is more convincing such as a bigger club in the Premier League or even a big Bundesliga club.

There is a possibility that the situation regarding which European competition Crystal Palace will be playing in this season had made Thiaw uneasy regarding the offer.

Thiaw is represented by the same agency group, Unique Sports Group, as Crystal Palace defenders Marc Guehi and Maxence Lacroix.

Newcastle United have recently shown interest in the AC Milan defender, which may be a more convincing option due to UEFA Champions League football.

Either way, he’s certainly in no rush.
