Manchester United have reportedly received a major boost in pursuing one of Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot’s Portugal teammates for a bargain price this summer.
Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes were away from Old Trafford this summer after they were called up for international duty with Portugal under Roberto Martinez.
Portugal defeated Germany 2-1 at the Allianz Arena in the Nations League semi-final in June and the Euro 2016 champions punched their ticket to the final in Munich.
Roberto Martinez’s men would come out on top in the final of the Nations League after Portugal beat Euro 2024 champions Spain on penalties at the Allianz Arena.
Manchester United captain Fernandes secured his second Nations League title with his country, while Dalot picked up his first winner’s medal with Portugal.
Both Fernandes and Dalot have since returned to Old Trafford and the pair were part of the second wave of United players to report to Carrington for pre-season training.

Man Utd could reunite Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha with Portugal teammates Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot
Joao Palhinha has been on Manchester United’s radar in the past and the Bayern Munich star has played alongside Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot for Portugal.
The 30-year-old defensive midfielder arrived at Bayern Munich last summer after the reigning German champions signed him from Premier League side Fulham.
Bayern paid an initial fee of £42.3m, including £4.2m in add-ons, for Joao Palhinha in 2024 and the former Fulham ace has struggled to establish himself at the club.
According to CaughtOffside, United had ‘already made initial enquiries’ about signing Palhinha and were ‘maintaining communication with Bayern’ over a move.
United reportedly wanted to take the Portugal international out on loan, but it has been claimed by the publication that Bayern ‘rejected’ the idea ‘without hesitation.’

Bayern Munich’s transfer asking price for Man Utd-linked Joao Palhinha and five Premier League clubs are also interested
CaughtOffside claims that Bayern Munich are only open to selling Joao Palhinha, who was hit with injuries in his debut season and faced tough competition at the side.
According to the outlet, the Bundesliga outfit are ready to ask for a ‘significantly lower’ transfer fee of ‘€30m to €35m’ instead of the ‘€51m’ that they paid for Palhinha.
Palhinha is under contract with Bayern until 2028 and the former Fulham midfielder managed 25 appearances across all competitions in the 2024-25 campaign.
It is believed that Tottenham, Brighton, Aston Villa, West Ham and Fulham are all interested in signing United-linked Palhinha from Bayern this summer.
