Luis Diaz’s future at Liverpool remains uncertain, with Bayern Munich emerging as serious contenders to sign the Colombian winger this summer.
Several factors suggest why Diaz may prefer a switch to Bavaria over extending his stay at Anfield.
The 27-year-old attacker currently earns less than €4 million per year at Liverpool — a figure significantly below the wage structure of elite players at top European clubs.
Even if Liverpool were to double his wages, Diaz would remain a relatively low earner compared to Bayern’s senior squad.
For Bayern, who are actively trying to reduce their wage bill under new sporting director Max Eberl, Diaz’s salary demands are seen as manageable.
Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany has already held a video call with Diaz. According to multiple reports, the Colombian gave a green light to the move and has informed Liverpool of his desire to leave.

Has Luis Díaz outgrown Liverpool already?
While Liverpool initially rejected a £58.6 million bid, journalist Ben Jacobs reports that offers upwards of £70 million will be considered, especially from Saudi clubs.
However, clubs like Bayern or Barcelona may be required to offer slightly more to entice the Reds into selling.
From Bayern’s perspective, Diaz is viewed not as a developmental project but as an immediate upgrade who can enhance their attacking options.
Internally, the move is backed by key figures at the club. Diaz’s output last season — 17 goals and 8 assists in 50 appearances — underlines his value, and his ability to perform on the big stage is well established.

Liverpool face a difficult decision. With only two years left on his contract, failing to sell Diaz this summer could lead to a depreciated value or even a free exit in 2026.
Unless the club offers him improved terms, which seem unlikely amid other big-money targets like Alexander Isak, retaining him could be both financially and personally contentious.
Ultimately, the combination of higher wages, immediate Champions League ambitions, and a leading role at Bayern could prove too tempting for Luis Diaz to ignore.
