Jay Emmanuel-Thomas has offered to “right my wrongs” at Morton after issuing a grovelling apology following his release from prison on parole this week.
The 34-year-old was sentenced to four years in jail last month for his involvement in an attempt to smuggle 60 kilograms of cannabis into Britain.
The maximum sentence for cannabis importation in the UK is 14 years in prison.
The ex Aberdeen and Livingston striker, who was a youth player at Arsenal, was ordered to serve one year and seven months on before being released on license.
But he had already served nine months of his sentence on remand and Emmanuel-Thomas has now taken to social media to issue a statement to Morton, who sacked him after he was arrested.
The striker said: "Apologies to all affiliated with Greenock Morton. I let you guys down big time, hopefully you can forgive me.
