Beyoncé Nabs 2 Emmy Nominations for NFL Halftime Performance

Beyoncé could soon be an Emmy winner. The Television Academy recently announced the nominations for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, and revealed that Beyoncé nabbed two noms.

The singer’s nominations are both for Beyoncé Bowl. In the Netflix special, Beyoncé performed a 12-minute halftime show during the Baltimore Ravens’ Christmas Day NFL game against the Houston Texans.

Her work earned her a nomination for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) as an executive producer and performer. She’ll be competing against producers from the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, the Oscars, SNL 50: The Anniversary Special, and SNL 50: The Homecoming Concert for the award.

She’s also nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special. In that category, she’ll face off against the directors of the Apple Music Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, the Oscars, SNL 50: The Anniversary Special, SNL 50: The Homecoming Concert, and the Tony Awards.

The special also earned nominations in two other categories: Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special and Outstanding Choreography for Variety or Reality Programming.

If Beyoncé wins, it’ll mark her first-ever Emmy Award. She’s been nominated many times before, though. She previously earned nominations for her 2013 Super Bowl Halftime Show, On the Run Tour HBO special, Homecoming documentary, and visual album, Lemonade.

Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour

Beyoncé is currently busy on her Cowboy Carter Tour in support of her country album of the same name, which was released in March 2024. The end of the tour is fast approaching. Beyoncé will play her final show in Paradise, Nevada, on July 26.

Beyoncé’s time on the road hasn’t been totally smooth sailing. During a recent performance, the singer’s flying car suffered a scary malfunction during a recent show when it turned sideways while suspended in the air.

Beyoncé didn’t let that get her down, though. She took to Instagram after the show to share pics from the incident, joking, “Sittin’ Sidewayz.” Additionally, during the concert that followed, Beyoncé ditched the malfunctioning flying car in favor of a golden animatronic stallion.

The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards will air Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
