Arsenal have made a dramatic late attempt to sign Salford City’s highly-rated teenage striker Will Wright, according to exclusive reports fromDaveOCKOP. The 17-year-old goal machine is now at the centre of a fierce transfer battle between Arsenal and Premier League champions Liverpool.
Liverpool had been leading the race for the 6ft 3in striker, who has netted over 40 goals across Salford’s youth and reserve sides and made his senior debut at just 16 in an FA Cup clash against Manchester City. However, Arsenal have now entered the race with a more lucrative up-front offer, aiming to hijack the deal and bring the promising forward to the Emirates.

Sources suggest no agreement has been reached yet, but Arsenal are pushing hard, with their financial proposal potentially giving them the edge. Liverpool, who have already held advanced talks with Salford, remain firmly in contention as the situation continues to develop. Salford City, co-owned by Manchester United icons Gary Neville and David Beckham are reportedly holding out for the best deal possible for one of their academy’s brightest prospects.

Wright’s prolific scoring record, physical presence, and early first-team experience have also attracted interest from Manchester City, Brentford, Leicester City, and Burnley. However, the young forward is believed to favour a move to a top Premier League side. Liverpool’s strong reputation for developing young players, evident in the rise of Harvey Elliott and Ben Doak makes them a serious contender, while Arsenal’s youth-focused project under Mikel Arteta presents another compelling pathway.

The deal is expected to involve a six-figure fee, potentially below the £300,000 reported in some quarters, with performance-related add-ons likely to play a key role. For Arsenal, securing Wright would fit into their broader strategy of investing in elite young talent to strengthen their academy pipeline. Meanwhile, Liverpool see Wright as a long-term prospect who could complement their future attacking options under new manager Arne Slot.
