Liverpool have reportedly made contact with Eintracht Frankfurt to sign striker Hugo Ekitike.
The Reds are in the market for a new No.9 this summer amid Darwin Nunez's lack of form and interest in the Uruguayan. Liverpool made contact with Newcastle on Tuesday, communicating they want to sign striker Alexander Isak in a deal potentially worth £120million.
And now, the Reds have approached Frankfurt over a possible move for Ekitike, according to The Athletic. The 23-year-old is also a target for Newcastle, believed to be seen as a potential replacement for Isak if he leaves St James' Park this summer.
Newcastle reportedly saw an offer of €80million (£70m) for the striker rejected by the Bundesliga outfit on the same day that Isak was linked to Anfield in a move that would likely see the Reds break the British transfer record for the second time in a matter of weeks, having signed Florian Wirtz for £116m last month.
The transfer saga looks set to continue with Newcastle adamant that Isak is not for sale, while at the same time, pursuing a club-record move for the Frenchman. Meanwhile, Liverpool have made clear their intentions to sign either of the strikers.

Frankfurt are prepared to play hardball with Ekitike, with the striker still under contract until 2029 after only signing permanently for the club last summer in a deal worth just £14m from PSG.
Ekitike scored 15 goals and registered eight assists last season in the Bundesliga and is among the most sought-after strikers in world football.
Liverpool's shortlist, by contrast, is rather extensive as they look to land a new striker, with Isak and Ekitike seemingly heading the list.

While other targets include Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins, Brentford star Yoane Wissa, and a remarkable link to Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford.
Arne Slot could also see a number of players leave to accommodate Liverpool's absurd spending this summer. Nunez has been linked with a move to Napoli, but that interest threatens to break down after the Serie A champions signed Lorenzo Lucca.
Meanwhile, winger Luis Diaz was the subject of an opening bid from Bayern Munich on Tuesday, seeing Liverpool reject a £58.5m offer. Despite the winger making clear he wants to leave, the Reds are standing firm on their £86m valuation.
