West Ham Make£35m Offer For Champions League Star Wanted By Man United

West Ham have reportedly made a loan offer to sign Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz who joined the Serie A just last summer.

The Hammers have had a quiet summer transfer window so far, something that has come as a bit of a worry for the fans, especially considering their less-than-stellar season last year.

Graham Potter will need signings if he wants to improve next year, especially considering that the Hammers have already sold winger Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham, who is one of their best players by far.

With that in mind, West Ham have been linked to former Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, who is now at Juventus. Reports have suggested that the Brazilian could be sold just one year after he left Villa to move to the Serie A.

According to Italian newspaper Tuttosport, West Ham have offered €10m for a loan for Luiz, with a €30m option to buy, that amounts to €40m (£35m), which is what Juventus are reportedly looking to sell the Brazilian for.

The report says that Juventus could be tempted by the deal, but if West Ham were to make the option to buy an obligation to buy, they would most likely accept the offer. It has not been reported as to whether the Hammers would be prepared to do this, but they’ll need to act fast as the midfielder has also been linked to Manchester United.

Which other midfielders could West Ham sign?

Luiz isn’t the only midfielder that West Ham are reportedly keen on this summer. They are also interested in Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey, who is more of an attacking midfielder than Luiz.

Ramsey is expected to cost around £28m, and Everton and Nottingham Forest are also credited with interest in the 24-year-old Villa star. He made 29 Premier League appearances last year, scoring one goal, and providing five assists.

Furthermore, Liverpool’s Harvey Elliot remains a target, however, he will have a hefty £40m price tag, with Liverpool also requesting a buy-back clause on the 22-year-old, which the Hammers may not want to do.
