Premier League club’s interest in Southampton centre-back persists as pursuit details emerge

Southampton star Taylor Harwood-Bellis remains a West Ham target but PSR concerns remain an obstacle despite the defender’s desire to return to the Premier League, as per TEAMtalk.

Southampton are back in the Championship after one year in the Premier League, and they’re facing familiar problems at St. Mary’s.

The Saints have some highly talented players and big financial assets on their books who could be tough to hold onto after the drop from the Premier League. But, as a wealthy club with ambitions of an immediate top flight return, they are holding firm on valuations and will not be forced into selling anyone.

That isn’t preventing interest in said assets though, and one man linked with a move elsewhere is Taylor Harwood-Bellis. West Ham were said to be keen on the centre-back earlier in the summer.

Now, a report from TEAMtalk has issued an update on their rumoured interest, stating the Hammers remain keen on the Southampton ace.

However, the Premier League side are on thin ice when it comes to PSR, so they can not afford to spend big on a Harwood-Bellis deal until they agree more sales. As such, if a deal is to come to fruition, it will be later in the window.

West Ham will find encouragement from the fact that Harwood-Bellis is ‘very keen’ to play in the Premier League though, and a move elsewhere would be something he finds hard to turn down.
