Celtic make surprise change to Newcastle United friendly TV coverage

Previously, Celtic TV had decided not to stream the match against the English Premier League side in the UK and Ireland.

It was set to be the only pre-season friendly unavailable to local fans.

However, in a surprise change, the club announced in an email to supporters that the game will now be shown worldwide.

The email stated: "The Hoops are well into their pre-season preparations and the intensity is building as they take on Portuguese champions Sporting CP this evening.

"It'll be a tough test for Brendan Rodgers' side and a chance for you to get a glimpse of our new signings in action live on Celtic TV."

The club also encouraged fans to subscribe to Celtic TV to catch the rest of the pre-season schedule live.

Celtic have already played three pre-season games, beating Queen's Park and Cork City, and narrowly losing to Estrela de Amadora.

They return to domestic action two weeks on Sunday.

The Celts will head to Italy for their final two pre-season matches in the Como Cup, starting with Ajax on Thursday, July 24.
