How Indiana Pacers Disrespected Myles Turner Until He Finally Left

The Indiana Pacers and the rest of the NBA world were shocked when Myles Turner spurned his old team and signed with the Milwaukee Bucks this offseason.

Turner was long expected to re-sign with the Pacers, with whom he spent the entirety of his NBA career, although Tyrese Haliburton's injury, which closed their title window, and constantly being undervalued by the franchise eventually turned him away.

Time after time, Turner was expected to take a hometown discount to stay with the Pacers, and ultimately, he felt that Indiana owed him for his years of service.

β€œI'm not really sure why the Pacers always undervalued him,” an unnamed agent told *ClutchPoints'*Brett Siegel. β€œHe played below his market value on his last contract, and they expected him to take another cut this time around because they clearly didn't want to go into the tax? This was shocking. We didn't expect Myles' leaving to even be a discussion this summer.”

Teams and fans constantly urge and expect players to make sacrifices in order to help their team win, which Turner had willingly done throughout his career, and when he demanded that the Pacers make a sacrifice of their own by dipping into the luxury tax, the team refused, reportedly offering him roughly $24 million per season instead of the $26.8 the Milwaukee Bucks were willing to shell out.

Pacers fans can be upset that he opted to sign with a bitter rival, although loyalty is a two-way street, and it sounds like Indiana asked their star to make sacrifice after sacrifice without being willing to do the same when their number was up.
