When you list out the top players on paper, you may not see Gervon Dexter on the national media's top-ten players. However, if the Chicago Bears want to go where they plan to go this season, they need a big year from the third-year player from Florida. Dexter starts off at the top 10 ranking.
Ranking most important Chicago Bears in 2025: Number 10 Gervon Dexter
Dexter is a second-round pick and went from a rotational player as a rookie to a starter in year two. So, it is reasonable to expect a breakout in year three. More than that, Dexter has shown the flashes.
Dexter had five sacks last season, and four of them came in the first five weeks of the season. He was dominating, and it looked like the breakout was coming.
His play slowed down, but it may have been as much about his situation as it is his play. The team lost Andrew Billings, and Zacch Pickens has been a massive disappointment. The team was supremely weak next to him, and that made it easy for teams to key in on him and not worry about anything else. He was shut out.
Now, that should not be the case. They added Shemar Turner and Grady Jarrett, so if Billings is healthy, the room should be drastically improved. This does not mean Dexter can go easier, but rather that he has to dominate. Turner is a rookie. Jarrett and Billings are aging with injury histories, and they are good players to take attention away from him.

They are doing their jobs if he gets a good look, he has to put the good look away. The Bears need pass rush, and a big step forward would go a long way. That is what puts him at number ten.
