Fulham plot loan move for Arsenal forward

Fulham have reportedly contacted Arsenal to re-sign forward Reiss Nelson.

The 25-year-old spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan at the west London club, making 12 appearances and scoring twice in all competitions.

Nelson's chance to showcase his talent in Marco Silva's side was cut short by a hamstring injury he sustained in December.

He looked close to nearing a return in February, but had to undergo surgery after suffering a separate hamstring issue in his opposite leg.

In light of his frustrating campaign, Fulham are keen to hand Nelson a second shot and have prepared another approach, likely a loan deal, according to BBC reporter Sami Mokbel.

If the move materialises, it would be Nelson's third loan in the last four years, and the fourth in his career.

The winger also endured season-long stints at Hoffenheim in 2018/19 and Feyenoord in 2021/22.

Nelson joined Arsenal's academy aged nine and worked his way up the ranks to make his senior debut in 2017.

Before then, he played for the Under-21 side, five years above his age group.

In the eight years since, he has only made 90 appearances for the Gunners' first-team and scored eight goals.

The south London native currently has two years left on his deal with Arsenal, having signed a four-year contract in the summer of 2023.

Nelson was once regarded as one of England's brightest talents, suiting up for his national team at every level from Under-16 to Under-21.

But his game time at the top level has been sporadic since 2021, meaning Nelson is yet to earn a senior cap.

If the Hale End graduate leaves his boyhood club, it would likely be because Arsenal's recent transfer activity has rendered him a surplus to requirements.

talkSPORT reported on Wednesday that Mikel Arteta's side have completed the £52 million signing of Noni Madueke from Chelsea.

Additionally, Arsenal are also set to approach Crystal Palace to sign Eberechi Eze.

Not to mention, Ethan Nwaneri may still sign a new deal at the Emirates.

Ultimately, there may be no room for Nelson as Arsenal hope to overhaul their attack with star players this summer.
