A proposed deal to bring Ashley Young back to Watford is currently rated no more likely than 50-50 to take place, the Watford Observer understands.
National reports linked Young with a homecoming earlier today (Wednesday) and discussions have indeed been taking place all summer between the Hornets and their former player.
Young, who is currently a free agent after leaving Everton, would love to return to his boyhood club if the right agreement can be found, but a move is currently far from advanced.

Young turned 40 last week but there are no concerns about his fitness, Everton’s medical staff having confirmed to Watford that he is in fine shape.

It is over 18 years since Young first departed Vicarage Road, having played 110 matches for the club, scoring 22 goals, and playing a major role in the famous promotion achieved by Aidy Boothroyd’s side in 2006.
He has gone on to star for Aston Villa, Manchester United and Inter Milan, winning Premier League and Serie A medals as well as several other trophies, and playing 39 times for England, including on the Three Lions’ run to the 2018 World Cup semi-finals.
