Manchester United and Liverpool has been a rivalry that has defined English football for a long time now and this sometimes spills into the transfer window, where the two clubs target the same player. On the pitch, things haven’t been rosy for the Red Devils in recent times.
Thus, if it comes to that, Man Utd will be keen to get one over the Merseyside club, at least in the transfer window. The opportunity could present itself imminently with both clubs interested in signing the same midfield player from Wolves in the coming weeks.
As per Corriere dello Sport [h/t Manchester Evening News], Manchester United are preparing to compete with Liverpool and Juventus for Wolves midfielder Andre. The 24‑year‑old Brazilian could be available for around £30 million, less than a year after arriving in England.

Andre joined Wolves in August 2024 from Fluminense for around £15m, but has quickly impressed in the Premier League with his control in tight spaces, composure under pressure, and press resistance, attracting top clubs in under 12 months. 36 matches in his first season in England is not a bad record to have.
Standing at 5’9”, Andre is a tenacious, technically sharp holding midfielder, known for tidy ball progression and aggressive recoveries. His style resembles former United man Fred, but with more tactical maturity and less risk in possession. His ceiling is much higher than his Brazilian counterpart too.
Ruben Amorim has a lot of work to do this summer and reshaping the midfield might be one of it. Casemiro may have been enjoying a late resurgence at Old Trafford but Manuel Ugarte’s could not hit the ground running last season. Thus, the Portuguese tactician might be looking at an alternative.
Liverpool and Juventus also want Andre
Liverpool also remain keen on the 24-year-old, having monitored the Brazilian since his Fluminense days. Having already won 12 caps for the senior Brazilian national team, Andre has a fair bit of experience under his belt and it might be the right time for him to move to a big club.
For United, Wolves’ asking price for Andre presents the opportunity to sign a player at a mid-tier market value for a top-flight player with room to grow, especially one who’s already adapted to the English game. Serie A side Juventus are also monitoring the situation. While financially more constrained, they could offer guaranteed playing time.
However, the allure of playing in the Premier League might be too hard to resist for Andre. This could give Man Utd and Liverpool an advantage in his race and it remains to be seen how this saga plays out.
