Fresh off a sensational 2024/25 campaign that ended with a Premier League title, Liverpool are wasting no time strengthening their squad under Arne Slot.
With a summer window already turning heads—bringing in Jeremie Frimpong, British-record signing Florian Wirtz, and left-back Milos Kerkez—the Reds look determined to build a dynasty, not just celebrate a one-off success.
Now, all eyes are on their striker search.

Liverpool are reportedly ready to break the transfer record once again in pursuit of Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds have formally approached Newcastle about a potential £120 million transfer, and the Swedish striker is said to be “open to the move.”
But while optimism is growing, Liverpool are preparing for all outcomes. With negotiations far from complete, the club has made enquiries for up to five alternative strikers to ensure they don’t miss out on revamping their attack.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool have a shortlist of five striker targets in case their top pursuit of Isak falls through.
Plan B is Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, with a direct enquiry made to check on his availability. Watkins’ all-round game — his pressing, link-up play, and proven Premier League record — makes him an attractive, lower-risk option.
Victor Osimhen is also under consideration, with the possibility of Napoli being tempted by Darwin Núñez in a potential swap-plus-cash deal. That scenario remains complex but is very much on Liverpool’s radar.

Yoane Wissa of Brentford is a more surprising name but signals Liverpool’s pragmatism: if the profile fits, they’ll go for it. Wissa has quietly impressed with his explosiveness and versatility. Real Madrid’s Rodrygo is considered a wildcard option. If Los Blancos decide to cash in or make room in their star-studded front line, Liverpool would be poised to move.
Meanwhile, Hugo Ekitike, currently being tracked by Newcastle, also remains a player of interest for the Reds.
Alexander Isak remains Liverpool’s top priority, but this shortlist reveals a clear intent: Liverpool aren’t waiting for the market to shape them — they’re moving to shape it themselves.
