Liverpool are reportedly poised to make a record-breaking offer for Alexander Isak if they receive positive signals from Newcastle. The 25-year-old striker has shot to the top of Liverpool's summer wish list as his future at St James' Park hangs in the balance. Despite Newcastle's insistence that their star forward is not on the market, with three years remaining on his contract, rumours persist. The Magpies have reportedly been attempting to secure Isak on a new, enhanced contract to ward off interest.
Speculation about Liverpool's interest intensified this week when it was revealed that the Premier League champions had approached Isak, who carries a price tag exceeding £125million. According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool will proceed with a deal if they sense a move could be possible.
Isak, formerly of Real Sociedad, is content at Newcastle, despite contract negotiations hitting a snag earlier this year before the exit of director of football Paul Mitchell. Currently in Austria for pre-season training with Newcastle, Isak may soon welcome a new colleague.
Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike, another Liverpool target, has already attracted a £70 million bid from Newcastle.
Frankfurt are reportedly holding out for a hefty £86m for the Frenchman, who Newcastle nearly secured in 2022 before he opted for Paris Saint-Germain. However, his stint at PSG didn't go as planned, leading Ekitike to join Frankfurt on loan for the latter half of the 2023-24 season.

Following an impressive spell, Eintracht snapped up the 23-year-old permanently for a mere £14.3m, and he rewarded them with 22 goals and 12 assists in 46 appearances last term. Newcastle are keen on pairing Ekitike with Isak, who is Liverpool's top target as they look to bring in a new striker this summer.
Arne Slot and his team have been considering various options both domestically and internationally. Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins, linked with Manchester United, and Brentford's Yoane Wissa, a target for Nottingham Forest, are said to be on their radar.
Victor Osimhen was also brought up during discussions with Napoli before the Italian champions withdrew from a move for Darwin Nunez. Even Marcus Rashford, who is reportedly seeking a move away from United, was mentioned during one conversation at Anfield.
