Man Utd’s£17m alternative Emi Martinez target is no longer flying under the radar, two Premier League clubs now in mix

Manchester United now face the real risk of missing out on bringing in a potential alternative to Aston Villa star Emiliano Martinez this summer, according to reports.

Emiliano Martinez has been linked with Manchester United and the 32-year-old Argentine World Cup winner has been tipped to leave Villa Park in the summer.

Aston Villa are reportedly open to selling United target Martinez amid their financial woes, but the club are holding out for a hefty £40m transfer fee.

Martinez has attracted interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia, but the Villa shot-stopper is believed to be keen on staying in England and the Premier League.

The Argentina international is under contract with Villa until 2029 and Martinez has made 212 appearances for the Premier League club since his move from Arsenal.

United are tipped to bring in a new shot-stopper for Red Devils boss Ruben Amorim amid the uncertainty around Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana at Old Trafford.

Man Utd could miss out on Royal Antwerp’s Senne Lammens amid the uncertainty around Aston Villa star Emiliano Martinez

Senne Lammens has been on Manchester United’s transfer radar in recent weeks and interest in the Royal Antwerp shot-stopper has appeared to pick up now.

The 22-year-old Belgian ‘keeper has been at Royal Antwerp since 2023 after he left Club Brugge and completed a free transfer to the Belgian Pro League side.

Senne Lammens is under contract with Antwerp until 2027 and the United-linked player made 44 appearances across all competitions in the 2024-25 campaign.

Gazet van Antwerpen reports that United are not alone in their interest in Lammens and face competition in signing the cheaper alternative to Emiliano Martinez.

According to the Belgian newspaper (via Sport Witness), newly promoted Premier League sides Sunderland and Leeds United are both interested in signing Lammens.

What is the price tag of Senne Lammens at Royal Antwerp amid the interest from Man Utd, Sunderland and Leeds United?

Royal Antwerp are not willing to let Senne Lammens leave on a cheap fee and the Red Devils, Sunderland or Leeds United could still pay a sizeable transfer cost.

It is believed that Antwerp star Lammens, who could replace Altay Bayindir as the back-up option for United, has been valued at around £17m (€20m) this summer.

Bayindir is out of contract with United in 2027 and the United shot-stopper has struggled to dislodge Andre Onana from the No 1 spot at Old Trafford.

Both Bayindir and Onana underwhelmed last season after being prone to howlers and Ruben Amorim could bring in new shot-stoppers as part of his squad rebuild.
