Everton fans will be hoping for some serious business in the transfer window before the Premier League season starts.

At the start of the window, the Toffees were occupied with tying up their existing stars to new contracts.

They’ve started looking to recruit new stars now though, with Thierno Barry and Mark Travers having arrived on permanent deals.

And there’s no sign of them stopping there.

Everton have made checks to sign Leicester star El Khannouss

Bilal El Khannouss is another player in Everton’s sights.

The Moroccan midfielder was relegated with Leicester last season, but as one of the only players with his reputation enhanced.

El Khannouss was a threat in most of the games he started for Leicester; not bad for a 21-year-old playing his first season in the Premier League.

TalkSPORT reports that the playmaker has a release clause in his contract worth £22.5million.

Leicester aren’t desperate to sell, but that clause will allow Everton to negotiate with their player regardless.

They’ll have to be quick though. Other Premier League clubs including Sunderland, Nottingham Forest and West Ham are believed to be interested too. Bayer Leverkusen manager Erik Ten Hag is also considering making a bid.

Everton need more of an attacking threat

David Moyes will surely prioritise the pursuit of new attacking players throughout the rest of the transfer window.

Iliman Ndiaye was their top goalscorer last season with nine league goals. Beto scored only eight, and now Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been released.

The signing of Barry should help. He looks like he will be the real deal, but he’ll need better support from the wings and midfield.

Bilal El-Khannouss 2024-25 statistics

El Khannouss is far from the finished product, but he’s available at a good price and has the potential to develop into a real star. He would surely get some game time if Everton were to sign him.

While this signing wouldn’t make waves like a huge bid for Jack Grealish, it could prove to be a useful transfer that doesn’t break the bank.

A few signings of this nature could make the world of difference for Everton.
