Report: Man Utd eye 'unbelievable' £100,000-a-week striker in high-profile swap deal involving…

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has turned his attention towards recruiting Nicolas Jackson and could end up luring the Chelsea star to Old Trafford in a deal which would see the out-of-favour Alejandro Garnacho head in the opposite direction to Stamford Bridge, according to i News.

The Red Devils have not been afraid to splash the cash since the summer transfer window opened for business, with Matheus Cunha completing a £62.5million switch from Premier League counterparts Wolverhampton Wanderers, but there is still determination to bring in a new first-choice frontman before the September 1 deadline.

Nicolas Jackson in action for Senegal

Manchester United are interested in landing Jackson in a swap deal involving Garnacho, according to i News, and the possibility of a high-profile agreement being found with Chelsea has not been ruled out as both sides have been aiming to make further adjustments to their respective squads before the new season gets underway.

Amorim is eager to secure a striker who is capable of leapfrogging Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee in the pecking order after missing out on silverware and European qualification during the 2024/25 campaign, leading to the Senegal international - described as 'unbelievable' by TNT Sports pundit Peter Crouch - being eyed as a possible recruit.

Jackson still has eight years remaining on a contract worth £100,000-per-week, resulting in Chelsea being in a strong negotiating position, but Manchester United are circling after the arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap in west London have left him in danger of being deprived of regular game time.

Garnacho has reportedly told the Red Devils that he wants to leave Old Trafford, which comes after Amorim informed him that he has no future in his current surroundings, and the Blues have been among the sides to have remained admirers despite stopping short of lodging a formal offer at this stage.

Manchester United are not the only Premier League side courting Jackson as Aston Villa boss Unai Emery is also a long-term admirer, having handed the 24-year-old his senior debut at Villarreal, while Serie A heavyweights AC Milan are also keen despite there being a gap in valuation.
