SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz announced that they are shutting down big man Kyle Filipowski for the remainder of the Vegas Summer League.

The Duke product is the league’s leading scorer at 29.3 points per game, including a 32-point and a 35-point outing over the first week of competition.

The former second-round pick also had a strong showing in Salt Lake City, averaging 17.0 points and 11.3 rebounds while leading the Jazz to an undefeated record.
Filipowski’s play comes on the heels of a promising debut season in which he averaged 9.6 points and 6.1 rebounds in 72 appearances, narrowly missing out on the All-Rookie second-team.
Though summer league play isn’t a direct indicator of regular season success, Filipowski will be a leading contender to join Lauri Markkanen and Walker Kessler in the Jazz’s frontcourt due to the absence of the recently traded John Collins and the injury rehabilitation of Taylor Hendricks.
