‘I really like the growth’: Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer speaks on QB Ty Simpson

ATLANTA, Georgia. (WBRC) - There will be a new face behind center for the Crimson Tide in 2025 with previous starting quarterback Jalen Milroe now in the NFL.

It’s been a three-man battle for the starting job in Tuscaloosa this offseason between Ty Simpson, Keelon Russell, and Austin Mack with Simpson being the frontrunner for the job.

Although the the program hasn’t named a starting quarterback yet, Crimson Tide head coach talked about the growth that he’s seen from Simpson at SEC Media Days Wednesday.

“I think from a mentality standpoint, I really like the growth that I’ve seen. He doesn’t overanalyze... being able to have the mindset of moving on. Just trying to instill that ‘do what you do’, and that’s going to be enough.”

Alabama will kickoff their 2025 season Saturday, August 30 at Florida State.
