Arsenal may have failed to lift any trophy in the 24/25 season, but they certainly managed to impress everyone with their perseverance and performance. The Gunners finished second on the points table. But perhaps getting so close yet remaining so far from glory, is what fuels them now. They are aiming at making significant improvements this season. These ‘improvements’ include retaining players, signing new ones, letting go of some, and basically doing everything they need to, in order to win and restore the honour and prestige that once belonged to this club.
Amidst all these moves they are making, there’s some news in the transfer market. Apparently, Arsenal are interested in the Real Madrid forward Brahim Diaz. The 25-year old Spaniard is pretty versatile and adapts quickly to the surroundings, which just might be something Arsenal require at the moment.
Why are Arsenal taking interest in Diaz?
Apparently, Arsenal are willing to spend up to €60m for the Spanish froward. They were previously linked with the transfer of the Brazilian star Rodrygo, but perhaps his hefty price tag proved to be a bit too much for the Gunners. Reportedly, Arsenal are looking for a moderately experienced but still a young gun. Someone who can lead their team by example, and make game changing plays whenever required. Looking at things the way they are right now, Brahim Diaz seems to be a perfect fit. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has had some experience with him, since the duo spent some time together at Manchester City. Arteta believes Diaz is a confident, competitive & consistent player. If the signing is finalised, it would certainly be a win-win situation- for Diaz as well as Arsenal.

Current scenes at Madrid
It is arguably obvious that even after signing Mbappe, Real Madrid had a relatively disappointing 24/25 season. They failed to lift the UCL, didn’t conquer La Liga, and lost to their arch-rivals FC Barcelona a bunch of times. With their newly appointed manager Xabi Alonso, they hope to see big changes. For someone who has spent multiple seasons at Madrid and is also a legend of the game, Xabi’s tactics would be worth watching. With his years of experience and immense expertise, Madrid are going to gain serious advantages and benefits. As per sources, Alonso believes Diaz to be a crucial component of their team. Hence, if the Los Blancos want this young gun to continue playing for them, they might have to make some moves. And as of now, the club is in a perfect financial shape to make that happen.
Author’s Opinion
While there’s no doubt regarding Brahim’s calibre and his cruciality for his team, being crucial does not mean anything if you don’t get ample playing time. Diaz is a young lad and has a lot of playing years in front of him. He might be his team’s key substitute but he certainly shouldn’t let his prime years rot away as a benchwarmer. Besides, the Gunners are serious contenders of the EPL now. It’s not just about Liverpool, City & United anymore. With players like Saka, Jesus, Skelly & Havertz, Diaz would fit greatly and would be a huge asset for the team.
If he chooses to stay, there’s no guarantee if he’ll ever get regular playing time at the Bernabeu. Being in a top club is of no good if your potential isn’t getting optimally utilized. Diaz is a smart, young footballer. He should be slightly more ambitious, try and leave his comfort zone, and accept Arsenal’s offers. And the fact that him and Arteta go back to their City days shall only work as an advantage for him. Nevertheless, the final call should ultimately belong to him. It would be very interesting to see what a player of his calibre decides, at this key stage of his career.
