Leeds United make major Anton Stach progress, Hoffenheim expect imminent deal - Sky Sports…

Leeds United’s talks to sign Anton Stach from Hoffenheim have made significant progress this week with the expectation in Germany that he heads to the newly-promoted side.

Daniel Farke will be hoping that he sees a few new fresh faces through the doors in the coming days at Elland Road with pre-season preparations speeding up from Saturday onwards.

One is due for a medical tomorrow in Sean Longstaff, joining from Newcastle United, barring any late hiccups, while others are edging closer.

Leeds United make significant progress on Anton Stach pursuit after personal term agreement

Wednesday morning brought an update from Germany that Leeds have agreed personal terms to sign Anton Stach from Hoffenheim.

While the player agreeing to a move is of course positive, there is still the matter of a fee being agreed, which Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg revealed to be set at €20million (£17.35million), with other clubs interested.

Now, Plettenberg has shared further information, revealing that more progress has been made between the two clubs as Leeds search for a breakthrough:

“New talks took place on Wednesday between Leeds and Hoffenheim regarding a possible transfer of Anton Stach. Stuttgart have also registered their interest and held talks. However, the feeling at Hoffenheim is that Stach is set to join Leeds.

“Hoffenheim have not yet reached an agreement with any club. TSG are demanding €20m + bonuses. As revealed today, Stach has already reached an agreement on personal terms with Leeds.”

Stach was named initially on the bench as Hoffenheim thrashed Sportfreunde Lauffen 11-0 on Wednesday evening, coming on for the second half.

Jaka Bijol was an eye-catching signing, as is Sean Longstaff, but Stach would be the biggest statement yet of Leeds planning to be here to stay.

A destroyer that covers ground incredibly well, Stach is of a similar mould to Declan Rice and that’s the exact sort of profile this midfield needs.

On top of Ethan Ampadu, Ao Tanaka, Ilia Gruev and Longstaff, Leeds would have a very varied and talented midfield to choose from if they land Stach too.
