Liverpool are reportedly under the impression that Alexander Isak is open to making a move to Anfield this summer.
It's claimed the Premier League champions have made an approach to Newcastle United regarding a potential transfer for the 25-year-old goal machine. Newcastle are claimed to be bracing themselves for an official bid from Liverpool, which could be in the region of £130million.
However, according to the Liverpool Echo, there has been no contact between the Anfield giants and Newcastle regarding Isak at this time. The striker has established himself as one of the Premier League's top strikers in recent seasons, and with forward Darwin Nunez's future at Liverpool uncertain, speculation surrounding the Newcastle striker has intensified.
Last season, Isak scored 27 goals across all competitions for Eddie Howe's side, including one in the Carabao Cup final victory over Liverpool.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has weighed in on the situation, in his latest newsletter for GiveMeSport. He said: "Liverpool feel Isak is open to the move, but this story completely depends on the clubs, and especially on Newcastle's decision."

However, according to Chronicle Live in the North East, Newcastle insiders insist Isak is not for sale.
The publication also reports that the club informed Arsenal earlier this summer that the striker would be offered a lucrative contract extension, which reportedly led to the Gunners backing off their interest.
It's reported that only a sky-high offer would persuade Newcastle to consider any deal.
They've also confirmed the departure of their sporting director, Paul Mitchell, last month, with CEO Darren Eales set to step down once a replacement is found.
Meanwhile, Sky Sports have suggested that Liverpool are set to compete with Newcastle for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike, after being informed that Isak is off the market.
