Thomas Frank needs to make an impact at Tottenham quickly and build on the Europa League success next season
All eyes will be on how Thomas Frank manages to steady the ship at Tottenham following his high-profile switch from Brentford. The Danish tactician is highly regarded in England, and it is clear to see why. He helped the Bees get promoted to the top-flight in 2021, and then turned them into a solid mid-table team in the Premier League.
The Spurs fans will be hoping that the 51-year-old can replicate the same magic at N17 and instil a winning culture at the club. It is fair to say that the Dane is aiming for the top at Hotspur Way, and he was quick to suggest that he wants to make Tottenham ‘serial winners’ again. Not only that, but the ex-Brentford boss is also aiming to make the players better as the season progresses.
Is the Tottenham job too big for Thomas Frank?
Is the Tottenham job too big for Thomas Frank?
After a disastrous Premier League campaign last season, the morale at N17 is at an all-time low. So, Thomas Frank needs to get going from minute-one and carve out some positive results once the new season commences. The Lilywhites will also be playing in the Champions League next year, and that will surely be a test for the Danish tactician and his men.
Tottenham manager Thomas Frank needs to make his mark at N17
Tottenham need to build on the Europa League success next season and aim for a top-half finish in the Premier League. The fans will hope that the players adapt to Thomas Frank’s style and quickly get used to how the Danish tactician operates. The ex-Brentford boss also has a huge task of getting the players and the fans back on board after Daniel Levy questionably sacked Ange Postecoglou last season.
Now, ex-Chelsea player Pat Nevin has backed Thomas Frank to do well at Spurs following his switch from the Gtech Stadium. Writing in his BBC column, Nevin said,
“New manager Thomas Frank is generally considered to be a top coach, a great signing and an all-round good egg by those in the know. It is tempting to say that his pleasant personality will be tested like never before by becoming manager of Spurs.”
The ex-Chelsea player added,
“Remember how adored Ange Postecoglou was when he rocked up at the Lane? Nonetheless it is hard to make a case against his appointment. He did a great job and then some for Brentford. He knows the Premier League inside out; his methods look well considered and also quite entertaining.”
Pat Nevin considers Thomas Frank to be a ‘great’ signing by Tottenham, but believes that the Danish tactician will be tested from the get-go at N17. The ex-Chelsea player adds that no fan can question the managerial appointment after the job he did at Brentford. Nevin also points out that the new Spurs manager knows the Premier League well, and his style of play is quite ‘entertaining.’
Managing Tottenham is never an easy task as the club attracts all sorts of media scrutiny week in week out. So, Thomas Frank must capitalise on the favourable fixtures that the Lilywhites have got in the first few game-weeks in the Premier League, and rack up as many points as possible to avoid any sort of negative attention from the media.
