Chelsea start talks to sign £65m Premier League player

Chelsea have focused on outgoings in recent weeks over incomings although the club already appear to have made some fantastic additions to the squad over the summer. Now, it looks like the Blues have their eyes set on another top talent who is already proven in the Premier League and is also wanted by Arsenal.

[Chelsea](https://theprideoflondon.com/chelsea-considering-swap-offer-bayern-munich-defender) recently agreed to let Noni Madueke head to Arsenal in a £52 million move. Could they use that fee to bring in a star performer from Crystal Palace?

As reported by [Chelsea News](https://chelsea.news/2025/07/eberechi-eze-talks-chelsea-65m/), Simon Phillips has shared on his Substack that the club have been in contact with Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace. They have had new talks with his agents, although there’s yet to be any club-to-club talks.

Eze is believed to have a release clause set at around £65 million. But the idea of doing a swap-plus-cash deal also involving Trevoh Chalobah has been floated as well.

Arsenal have been linked with Eze for months. Let's see if Chelsea can swoop in and sign the player ahead of their London rivals.

Eze can play on the left flank but he is not a chalk on the boots winger. Instead, he is at his best in a central position. But then, Chelsea already have Cole Palmer as the undisputed starter there. So, it would be interesting to see how the Blues would use the Crystal Palace ace, if they ended up signing him.

Then again, they were also linked with Mohammed Kudus, who is also someone who thrives in central areas even though he has the ability to play out wide. So, this might be a type of profile that Chelsea want with the likes of Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix both being linked with summer moves away.
