‘In London’: Fabrizio Romano gives Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal update as delays continue

Despite a move accelerating over the last week, Arsenal are still yet to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP.

In a long, drawn-out race between Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres, Arsenal ultimately opted for the latter — they’re convinced that the Swede can elevate Mikel Arteta’s starting eleven.

Sesko proved too expensive for Arsenal and Andrea Berta ultimately feels as if a deal for Gyokeres presents much better value.

Gyokeres has famously scored 97 goals in 102 games for Sporting, and although he would be making a step up to the Premier League, there’s no reason why he can’t continue that success back in England.

However, after Arsenal opted to sign Gyokeres over a week ago, a deal still hasn’t been concluded, and fans in north London are still awaiting the coveted ‘here we go’.

Viktor Gyokeres’ agents are in London but Arsenal still being made to wait

That being said, Fabrizio Romano has offered an update on the situation right now over on his YouTube channel.

Unfortunately for Arsenal supporters, it’s not the message they’ve been craving — things are still somewhat quiet whilst the two clubs try to agree on a complete financial package.

Although, Romano did mention that Gyokeres’ agents have remained in London recently, suggesting that a breakthrough could come at any moment.

Romano said: “I immediately tell you that we are still all waiting for news on the future of Viktor Gyokeres, with talks continuing in London — the agents of the player are still in London to try and complete this agreement on the add-ons between Arsenal and Sporting.”

TBR Football recently shared that Arsenal aren’t worried by the Gyokeres delay, and the Gunners still hope that a deal will be finalised by the end of this week.

Noni Madueke can help Viktor Gyokeres succeed at Arsenal

Of course, it’s not just a deal for Gyokeres that Berta is working on right now, Arsenal are close to signing Noni Madueke from Chelsea as well.

And although many believe that Madueke will predominantly be backup at Arsenal, perhaps he could end up competing for a start on the left wing.

Leandro Trossard is ready to leave Arsenal so it seems as if Madueke will have to mainly compete with Gabriel Martinelli on the left.

And whereas Martinelli likes to cut inside, Madueke could hit the touchline on his left foot, potentially delivering balls into the box for Gyokeres to feast on.

Martinelli will obviously help any central striker too, but Madueke’s potential impact at the Emirates might be slightly understated as things stand.

Either way, Arsenal fans will just be hoping that both deals can be concluded as soon as possible.
