Green Bay Packers: Davante Adams Gets Unfavorable ESPN Update Before 2025 NFL Season

Former Green Bay Packer star wide receiver Davante Adams can be considered among the elder statesmen of his position in the league. At 32 years old and about to turn 33 in December, Adams’ best days of football could already be behind him.

Nevertheless, there must be plenty of juice left in his legs. He still recorded 1,063 receiving yards and eight touchdowns on 85 catches and 141 targets while playing for two teams in 2024; first with the Las Vegas Raiders and then to the New York Jets. A bulk of those yards and touchdowns came with the Jets and with Aaron Rodgers as the quarterback.

Adamslikely has played his last NFL game with Rodgers as his quarterback, but he’ll now be seeing action on the field alongside another aging but still solid signal-caller in the form of Matthew Stafford after he signed a one-year, $44 million contractwith the Los Angeles Rams last March.

With the Rams, he’ll get the chance to prove that he is still among the best wideouts in the league, as others start to doubt whether he’ll be a Pro Bowler again. He last got a Pro Bowl nod in 2022, his first year with the Raiders.

ESPN dropped its top 10 rankings for wide receivers heading into the new season, and one player noticeably absent from the list is Adams, who played his first eight seasons in the NFL with Green Bay.

Adams, however, still got a mention from ESPN, partlyexplaining his slide.

Davante Adams, Rams (No. 5 in 2024 preseason) — Adams’ combined 2024 numbers — 85 catches, 1,063 yards and 8 TDs with the Raiders and Jets — were enough for the Rams to ink Adams to a two-year, $44 million deal in March. But at age 32 and given his teams’ struggles in both Las Vegas and New York, Adams will have to prove he can continue to make the kind of impact required of the league’s deep pool of elite receiver candidates.
