Josh Allen Details Strict Routine That Keeps Him NFL-Ready

When it comes to the best of the best in professional sports, it takes plenty of discipline and a strong routine to stay on top of their game.

And that's no different for Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, the reigning NFL Most Valuable Player.

Allen recently sat down with GQ's Tyler Chin and shared the details of how he stays in shape when he isn't on the football field.

Allen stresses the importance of sleep while noting he needs "at least eight and a half hours," but that can vary depending on what he does during the day. The Bills superstar makes sure the room is cold and quiet before going to bed, and he sometimes uses green noise.

When it comes to recovery from his workouts, which Allen does four times per week (Monday through Thursday), alternating between upper and lower body, he uses an infrared sauna and red-light therapy.

Of course, keeping a strict diet is incredibly important, also.

"My diet consists of a pretty light breakfast or light lunch. Sometimes I don't eat breakfast, and I don't follow the intermittent fasting diet," he explained.

Allen adds that he eats a lot of protein, and more specifically, steak and chicken. He isn't afraid to eat fish, either, and has become fond of sushi, which he said is his "favorite food right now."

In terms of the things he avoids, Allen said he steers clear of butter and dairy.
