However, they’ll have overcome a significant absence.

Rashee Rice was sentenced by a Dallas County judge for his role in a high-speed race crash over Easter Weekend 2024 that involved a multitude of cars:
The civil case for Rice is ongoing, with the trial not set to begin until January of 2026. However, the criminal case had been under wraps since he was charged in 2024.
Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Rice was sentenced to five years’ probation and 30 days of jail time. The NFL is expected to suspend Rice in the upcoming season.
“ESPN sources: A Dallas County judge just sentenced Chiefs WR Rashee Rice to five years probation and 30 days of jail time that can be served during those five years stemming for his role in a multi-car crash in Dallas during the 2024 offseason,” Schefter posted on X. “Now that the judge has ruled, the NFL can expedite its disciplinary process and Rice is likely to receive a multi-game suspension.
“With today’s ruling from a Dallas County judge, the expectation now is that Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice will serve his suspension during this upcoming season.”

It’s unclear how many games the league would suspend Rice for this season. The third-year wide receiver is coming off a torn LCL (knee injury) that ended his season in 2024 prematurely in Week 4.
Kansas City is depending on Rice, their second-round pick in 2023, to play a key role on offense for the upcoming season.
