Buccaneers just added another throwback uniform game to the 2025 schedule

For the first time since the mid-1990s, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be bringing back their old Bucco Bruce white road uniforms this season. It's all part of the franchise's 50th anniversary celebration that will be a major theme throughout the year, with themed games and literal throwbacks like the ones the Bucs announced earlier this week.

Revealing the white road throwbacks was supposed to be the big surprise of the offseason, but it turns out the bag of tricks goes a little deeper. The Bucs made a joint announcement on Thursday with the Seattle Seahawks that both teams will be wearing their 1976 throwback uniforms when they play each other in Week 5.

It's being billed as the 'Expansion Bowl 2' and honors not only the Buccaneers 50th season but the Seahawks as well. Both teams were expansion franchises that year and are celebrating half-a-century in the NFL this season.

How cool is that? Also, what a way to lean into the 50th anniversary and really make it special.

It took the Bucs almost 15 years to bring their old creamsicle uniforms back, which is why news that the white road throwbacks are going to be worn was such a big deal. What made it even better was the fact that it meant Tampa Bay would be wearing throwbacks during two games instead of just one, and now we have a third game to look forward to.

It's a bit of a break in the throwback tradition, too. Most teams by now have worked a vintage look into their uniform rotation, but they're almost exclusively worn during home games. The Bucs will be doing that Week 1 when the white uniforms get debuted for the season opener, but the second game they'll be worn is on the road in Seattle.

What better way to honor the past than to truly channel it by properly using the road whites?

It's going to be a great season of looking back on the team's past while also embracing the present. The best part about that is, for the first time in a long time, looking beyond today and into the Buccaneers' future is about as bright as it's ever seemed, which is perhaps the best thing about honoring the last fifty years of the franchise's existence.
