For football uniform fans, it’s difficult to imagine a more visually striking matchup than this.
Huard: Seahawks send a good sign with one draft pick’s status
The Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Buccaneers will both wear their popular throwback uniforms for their Week 5 clash at Lumen Field on Oct. 5, the teams announced on Thursday. It’s particularly fitting, as both teams are celebrating their 50th seasons this fall after joining the NFL together as expansion teams back in 1976.
The Seahawks will don their royal blue home throwback uniforms, which are based on the royal blue, silver and green color scheme the team wore from 1976 to 2001. Seattle introduced those throwback uniforms in 2023.
The Buccaneers will sport their all-white “Creamsicle” throwbacks, which are a modernized version of the team’s inaugural 1976 uniforms. They feature the white, bright orange and red “Bucco Bruce” colorway the team donned from 1976 to 1996. The Bucs revealed those throwbacks earlier this week.

Both teams wore the original versions of these uniforms during their first-ever matchup in 1976, which the Seahawks won 13-10 at Tampa Stadium. It was a particularly ugly game, with the two 0-5 expansion teams combining for a whopping 35 penalties and 310 penalty yards.
But for those who appreciate sports uniforms, this upcoming 2025 rematch figures to be nothing short of beautiful.
