The Commanders made their second appearance on the NFL Top 100 list on Thursday. Linebacker Bobby Wagner, a perennial Pro Bowler and likely future Hall of Famer, was voted the 74th-best player in the league by his peers.
The NFL Top 100, now in its 15th season, allows active NFL players to rank their colleagues based on their performance in the most recent season. This year, the rankings have been unveiled one at a time on social media.
The reveals began on June 30 and will wrap up on Sept. 1, when the Top 10 are announced on NFL Network.
“He’s one of the guys that’s always calling out the formation, where’s the play going,” Philadelphia Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson said of Wagner. “He knows what’s going on before it happens.”
Wagner, 35, continued his run of remarkable consistency during his first season in Washington last year. The 11-time All-Pro led the team with 132 tackles, adding a pair of sacks and four pass deflections while serving as a leader on the Commanders’ defense.
“He’s so instinctual. He just finds a way to be around the ball,” New Orleans Saints linebacker Demario Davis said. “Just continue to defy time.”
The Utah State product has now posted 13 consecutive seasons with at least 100 tackles. He’s now made the player-voted Top 100 list 10 times.
“He still treats the game like he’s a rookie,” Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. said. “Always being where he’s supposed to be, in the right place at the right time. You can’t even tell he’s been in the league 13, 14 years.”
Wagner joins new teammate Laremy Tunsil, who the Commanders acquired through a trade with the Houston Texans, on this year’s list.
