It was certainly a questionable move back in 2022 when the San Francisco 49ers used a third-round pick on former LSU running back Tyrion-Davis Price, especially after using another third-rounder on a tailback the year before, Trey Sermon, only to see that investment fail dramatically.
The Niners' reach on Davis-Price didn't take long to figure out, and the running back managed to appear in only six games his rookie season, amassing a mere 99 yards on 34 attempts, averaging just 2.9 yards per carry in the process.
By 2023, it clear enough Davis-Price would be a bust, especially with then-undrafted rookie Jordan Mason ascending the depth chart, and San Francisco officially cut bait with the former in December of that year after he appeared in just a single game.
Since then, Davis-Price tried his hand with the Philadelphia Eagles, only to see those efforts flame out quickly after just a single season and one game played before signing earlier this offseason with the Tennessee Titans.
Turns out, that tenure was short-lived, too.
Titans give up on Tyrion Davis-Price experiment before it even started
The Titans inked Davis-Price last June with the hope of him providing at least some spark to their running back room.
However, with training camp about to kick off, Tennessee announced a roster move that returns Davis-Price to the free-agent scrap heap by adding third-year pro running back Jordan Mims and waiving the former to make room.
So much for Davis-Price's hopes to resurrect an otherwise disappointing NFL career.
Perhaps there'll be another taker on the 6-foot-1 and 219-pound tailback, at least as a training camp invite with the potential upside of signing onto a practice squad as a call-up reserve.
That said, multiple flameouts with multiple teams over such a brief period don't bode well for his immediate and long-term NFL future.
