Micah Parsons Airs Out Cowboys Frustrations in Public Right Before Camp

The Dallas Cowboys are days away from training camp beginning on July 21 at Staybridge Suites in Oxnard, Calif.

While that is exciting for fans, defensive end Micah Parsons isn't pleased that he still hasn't received a contract extension. During an interview with Undertaker, Parsons aired out his feelings with Dallas.

He said, "We obviously wanted to get done early. We want that relief off our back. Ownership is always gonna make it drag out, make it more complicated than it has to be. Lack of communication....We wanted to do the contract last year."

Micah Parsons Calls Out Cowboys Over Contract Situation

Parsons added that he thought the Cowboys would want to get ahead of the Myles Garrett and Maxx Crosby deals, but they failed to do that as well earlier this offseason.

These statements aren't surprising for the fanbase, as this is how the Cowboys have always acted with their star players.

Back in March, the Cleveland Browns and Garrett agreed to terms on a four-year, $160 million extension that featured $123 million guaranteed. That made him the highest-paid non-QB in the league, making $40 million a year.

Crosby also landed a three-year, $106.5 million deal with $91.5 million guaranteed. He's slated to make $35.5 million a year.

Dallas could have gotten ahead of these deals like Parsons suggested last year, but they decided to wait instead, making the price only increase.

Since stepping foot in the league, Parsons has been one of the best pass rushers in the league.

In addition to these numbers, he's a four-time Pro Bowler (2021-2024), two-time First-Team All-Pro (2021, 2022), and Second-Team All-Pro (2023). It's obvious he's one of the best game wreckers in the NFL and deserves to be paid as such.

If Dallas had looked to lock down a deal last offseason, the average salary would have been in the mid-30s instead of $40 million plus going forward.

Yes, they paid Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb last summer, which totaled $376 million, but Parsons should have been on the list as well. He's a superstar talent at one of the most premier positions in the NFL, but he's still waiting on the Cowboys to play ball. And that decision will make that contract even bigger than it had to be.
