Trio linked to death of Super Bowl reporter now charged with Racketeering and Manslaughter in decade-long scheme

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Jefferson Parish prosecutors allege a decade-long scheme involving prostitution, drugs and robbery played a role in the death of a Kansas City reporter in Kenner.

Reporter Adan Manzano died during Super Bowl week.

Kenner Police had already arrested Danette Colbert, Rickey White and Christian Anderson in connection to the death. The trio now face racketeering and manslaughter charges.

Investigators say that beginning in 2012, the trio used prostitution to lure victims, drugged them until they passed out, then stole phones, wallets to access bank account information.

Prosecutors listed 18 instances in which the suspects allegedly stole credit cards, cash or other valuables from victims.

Approximately 15 mobile phones, two watches, 29 credit and debit cards, four wallets, one ring, and $131,936 in ATM and money transfers.

Prosecutors allege Colbert acted as a “party girl” or “prostitute”, White acted as the “pimp” and Anderson facilitated drugs and also acted as a prostitute.

Prosecutors included numerous text exchanges in their court filing.

That included text exchange between Anderson and an associate, in which Anderson acknowledged the risk of drugging victims with Xanax. In one message, the associate wrote, “I’m telling her now she need to learn new... (expletive).” Anderson replied, “Yea she do before she kill a (expletive) by accident.”

Manzano was found dead with Xanax in his system.

Anderson also appeared to express remorse in April 2025 for Manzano’s death and Colbert’s arrest.

He texted another associate:

“I feel bad for her to an extent but I feel more bad for her family if anything...I also feel bad for the man.”
