Tampa Bay Bucs’ COO says the team is ready for its 50th season

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Tampa Bay Buccaneers Chief Operating Officer Brian Ford says the team is ready for training camp to open next week.

“I can tell you the excitement and the buzz in our facility, we’re ready for training camp to open up next Thursday,” Ford told the Rotary Club of Sarasota Wednesday.

Ford is no stranger to the Suncoast. It’s the third year in a row he’s taken the Rotary Club up on their offer to be a speaker.

“The support that we get down here is remarkable,” Ford said. “We have a lot of charter seat holders have been with us since 1976 that live down here in Sarasota. And I just I very appreciative and humbled to be invited back by the rotary to kind of just give a little update on where we’re at on and off the field.”

Training camp is opening July 24, a very special year for the Bucs. “This is going to be a historic season,” Ford said. “It’s our 50th season. So we came into the league in 1976 as the 27th franchise, and we’re going to celebrate it this entire year.”

The team just unveiled a new throwback white jersey, for the opening game. “It’s just a lot of fun.” Ford said. “We’re not going to just select one game to celebrate it. We’re going to celebrate it throughout the season.”
