Arsenal are gearing up for the start of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign
Arsenal have the opportunity to freshen up their ranks with some new signings over the next couple of months. They also have the chance to let some players head out the exit door as well if needed. That would help free up space and funds in their squad to pave the way for reinforcements.
Mikel Arteta’s side finished 2nd in the Premier League table again last season. Liverpool won the title ahead of them under the guidance of Arne Slot. The Gunners will be eager to mount another push for top spot in the next campaign.
Arsenal update regarding Fabio Viera’s future
Arsenal are ‘willing’ to sell Fabio Viera at a loss in this window, according to The Times. The report adds that the player will be allowed to leave for £20million. The Gunners forked out £34.2million to sign him back in 2022 but he hasn’t been able to make the impact he would have wanted to.
Viera, 25, made the switch to the Emirates Stadium three years ago to boost his current club’s attacking department. He has since made 49 appearances in all competitions and has scored three goals. Prior to his move ot England, he caught the eye at FC Porto.
The ex-Portugal youth international rose up through the academy ranks at Estádio do Dragão and was a regular at various different youth levels. He made his first-team debut back in 2020 and played 76 matches as a youngster, finding the net on 10 occasions. Arsenal let him re-join Porto on loan in January to get some more game time under his belt and he is now back with Arteta’s side for pre-season but his future is up in the air.
What now for Fabio Viera at Arsenal?
Most signs point towards Viera leaving Arsenal on a full-time basis. His return to Porto last term gave him a platform to show what he can do again. The Gunners can’t offer him regular action so a departure would suit all parties involved. It remains to be seen at this stage where he could potentially end up next but he is still young and has potential to get better down the line.
After signing him for the Gunners, Arteta said at the time: “I am very excited that we have identified and signed such a special talent. Fabio is a very creative player that will bring high quality and versatility to our attacking play. We welcome Fabio and his family to our club and are looking forward to starting work with him ahead of the new season.”
Meanwhile, Viera said: "This is an important step forward in my career. It certainly was a fast process. It was something that I was drawn to. Meeting the people at the club was a real positive for me. I'm loving it here and I'm here to give the team my all.
"I'm an attacking player who looks to find space between the lines, to be able to finish off moves either with assists or by scoring goals. I think those are the main attributes that Arsenal fans can expect from me."
