All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Arsenal as they prepare for their pre-season opener.

Arsenal are now preparing for their first pre-season fixture of the season, which takes place next week. The Gunners are already back in training, and they are joined by as many as three new signings, with more to come.

Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta have been able to be efficient with their business so far this season, although their striker chase has proven more difficult. Here we round up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the Emirates Stadium.

Gyokeres latest

Fabrizio Romano has issued another update on Arsenal’s seemingly never-ending pursuit of Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres. He said on his YouTube channel: “I keep receiving many questions from Arsenal fans on Viktor Gyokeres. Guys, the conversation is still ongoing in London. The agents of the player are still in London to try resolve the agreement between all parties involved.

“Gyokeres is fighting to go to Arsenal. But obviously it’s really important to agree on the add-ons. They are really on it on every single hour, every single minute – Arsenal and Sporting are working on this deal. So as soon as it will be agreed guys, I will let you know. But they are still working on the add-ons, showing to you that when on Sunday there were reports of deal done, that was not done, that was simply not done. They agreed the first part of the fee, but not the add-ons. Still working on the add-ons in London.”

Gyokeres deal impact

CNN Portugal pundit Daniel Carvalho has questioned the impact of the Gyokeres transfer saga. He said via SportWitness: “None of this is positive. Many Sporting fans now understand that no one is above the club, and there was no need to stretch things this far. The bad relationship that now exists with both the board and the fans didn’t have to happen.

He added: “What has been written won’t be erased, but the image that remains is not good. The story didn’t deserve to end with the poor impression we have today.”

Eze no closer

Arsenal don’t appear to be any further along in their reported bid to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace this summer. Eze was given extra time off this summer due to international involvement with England, and his absence from a recent photoshoot caused concern among Palace fans.

But Eze has now been spotted back in training as he begins preparations for the new season with the Eagles. Though, speculation surrounding his future will surely continue deep into the summer amid reported interest from Arsenal and many others.

Meanwhile, Paul Merson said of links between Arsenal and Eze whil eon Sky Sports this week: “If you asked me whether Arsenal should sign Eberechi Eze or Madueke, I’d have said Eze all day long. Now that’s a deal I can see happening and it would be a brilliant signing for Arsenal. He’s perfect. It would be a fantastic signing for Arsenal.”
