Arsenal have launched into a high-powered summer transfer window as they aim to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title in 2025/26. Under Mikel Arteta’s leadership, the Gunners have already splashed over £70 million on new arrivals and are poised to break the £200 million mark with more signings in the pipeline.

Key arrivals so far include midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, Brentford captain Christian Norgaard, and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea. Arsenal have also snapped up highly rated teenager Will Wright from Salford City in a £200,000 deal. Talks are ongoing for further additions, with Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres, Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, and Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera all on the club’s radar.

However, alongside the incoming names, Arsenal are actively working to trim their squad, most notably by negotiating the departures of fringe players Oleksabdr Zinchenko, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson.

According toThe Times, Arsenal are seeking £20 million for Vieira, who is attracting strong interest from Serie A side Parma. The 25-year-old Portuguese midfielder is reportedly eager to reunite with Carlos Cuesta, the former Arsenal assistant coach who recently took over as Parma’s head coach.

Vieira signed for Arsenal from FC Porto in 2022 for an initial £30 million, but struggled to secure a consistent role under Arteta, managing just five Premier League starts over two seasons. A loan back to Porto in 2024/25 saw him enjoy a resurgence, scoring five goals and assisting six more in 42 appearances. Nevertheless, Porto opted against making the deal permanent.

With captain Martin Odegaard entrenched as the club’s chief playmaker and rising star Ethan Nwaneri pushing for minutes, Vieira’s path to first-team football at Arsenal is limited. Parma are keen to make him their marquee signing this summer, but Arsenal’s £20 million asking price could prove challenging. Parma haven’t spent more than £19 million on a player in over 20 years, and may push for a structured deal involving performance-related add-ons or a sell-on clause to meet Arsenal’s valuation.

Meanwhile, winger Reiss Nelson is also nearing a potential exit. The 25-year-old is in talks with Fulham over a possible return following an injury-affected loan spell at Craven Cottage last season. Nelson made 13 appearances and scored twice before hamstring and leg injuries curtailed his campaign. Despite his contract still running at Arsenal, Fulham remain interested in a renewed loan deal, with negotiations ongoing, according to The Times and BBC Sport.

With Nelson facing increased competition for game time due to Arsenal’s bolstered attacking ranks, a temporary move could offer him a fresh chance to relaunch his career.

The potential sales of Vieira and Nelson align with Arsenal’s broader strategy of balancing books while maintaining momentum in the transfer market. The club’s aggressive pursuit of players like Gyökeres, Madueke, and Mosquera signals their determination to compete on all fronts, while reports from The Mirror suggest Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze remains a high-priority target before the window closes.
