As far as The Daily Viktor Gyökeres is concerned, Thursday started the same way Wednesday had, with very little advance on the player’s transfer to Arsenal.
The clubs have reportedly agreed a fixed fee but it’s how the €10m in bonuses is made up which is keeping them apart, and there is yet to be a conclusion to satisfy all parties despite the difference between them being relatively tiny.
Sporting want €2.5m for the striker’s first 20 appearances, €2.5m for the next 20, €2.5m should Arsenal qualify for the Champions League, and €2.5m for another 20 appearances the following season. That would fit in with Federico Varandas’ aims of it all being achievable and €7.5m being possible in the first season. Arsenal want €2.5m of the total to be more difficult to achieve.
Friday’s edition of Record leads with a story we covered yesterday: Removal vans turned up outside Gyökeres’ Lisbon house and started to pack away the striker’s belongings.
Other than that, the newspaper which has been leading with the updates on the story has absolutely nothing more to offer us.
O Jogo‘s Friday report is similar, adding the Sweden international remains AWOL in Stockholm and still hopes to be on Arsenal’s flight to their preseason tour tomorrow, which appears increasingly unlikely.
Over at A Bola, it’s reported Mikel Arteta still wants Gyökeres on that Saturday flight, and to make that happen a final agreement much be reached today.
