Arsenal are set to beat fellow Premier League side Liverpool to a deal for a new striker ahead of the 2025/26 season.
With some Arsenal fans calling out for a new striker at the club, the Gunners are set to sign a highly thought-of 17-year-old striker from League Two.
Salford City’s Will Wright has caught the attention of several clubs lately, and now he has a deal in place to join one of England’s best teams.
Arsenal Agree Deal with Salford City
The Daily Mail havereported that Arsenal have agreed a £200,000 deal with Salford City to sign Will Wright.
The Gunners have beaten Premier League champions, Liverpool, to the signing after Arne Slot’s side only offered £100,000 plus add-ons.
Arsenal will begin contract talks with Wright over personal terms in the upcoming days.
Wright’s Rise to the Top
Wright signed for Salford City two years ago after being spotted playing for local sides.
Since then, Wright has become a name known amongst those at Salford City. He made his debut for Salford against Manchester City in the FA Cup. Although he only played a handful of minutes, it was likely a good experience for the youngster.
Wright also featured twice in League Two for Salford City. In total, he played 67 minutes, picking up one yellow card in that time.
He scored over 5o goals for various Salford City youth levels last season and is still only a second-year scholar.
To start the pre-season this season, Wright scored four goals in three friendlies. This was done while scouts from clubs up the pyramid kept a close eye on him.
What Next for Wright?
Wright will likelygo straight into the youth academy at Arsenal. This allows him to test himself against some of the best players in his age group.
If he makes the step-up to the Arsenal U21, he’ll be competing in the Premier League 2 for the Gunners.
Last season, they finished 8th in the league, which was won by Manchester City, another side that was rumoured to be interested in Wright.
If Wright can impress the youth coaches at Arsenal, he might find himself in the senior side for some cup ties in the 2025/26 season.
