Green Bay Packers: Aaron Rodgers Denies Fan Chance of a Lifetime After Failing Football Quiz

It is safe to say that former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is near the last stretch of the back nine of his football career. He still has at least one more season to play in the NFL after signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers, with whom he will look to show that there’s still enough gas left in his tank to make a serious run at a Super Bowl and retire a multi-ring star.

Rodgers’ NFL career started nearly two decades ago, in 2005, to be exact. The Packers selected him in the first round of that year’s draft as the 24th pick overall. Green Bay still had Brett Favre at the time, so Rodgers initially served as a backup in the quarterback room.

He would not make his NFL regular-season debut until Week 5 of the 2005 campaign against the New Orleans Saints at home, as he got called upon to replace Favre under center during a blowout. That particular game was a recent subject of a viral moment between Rodgers and a fan, who just wanted to have Rodgers’ signature.

During last week’s running of the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament, one fan asked Rodgers to autograph a ticket from that Saints game on Oct. 9, 2005. The fan said he remembered that Rodgers had a pass completion in that contest, but could not recall who the target was.

“I don’t remember it like that. I was 16, 20 years ago,” the fan said.

“I remember,” Rodgers responded. “You could look it up though. Then I would believe you, and then I would sign your thing. But since I don’t believe you, I’m not going to sign it.”

Aside from turning down the fan’s autograph request, Rodgers also called him an “autograph hound.”

“You’re an autograph hound,” the Steelers signal-caller said. ” Yeah, you are. You can’t fool me. You can’t fool me,” the quarterback said.

For what it’s worth, it was running back Vonta Leach, who caught the pass in the Saints game from Rodgers, though that reception did not generate a single yard.
