This offseason, the Seattle Seahawks rebuilt a lot of their offense, but definitely their entire quarterback room. Geno Smith had been a three-year starter but wanted to be traded, and the team sent him to the Las Vegas Raiders. Backup Sam Howell was traded to the Minnesota Vikings.
In their place, general manager John Schneider signed Sam Darnold and Drew Lock, and took Jalen Milroe in the third round of the 2025 NFL draft. Things will look different for 12s this season when watching their favorite team, but no one knows if the team will be better yet.
One AOL writer, Jordan O'Malley (or Omalley; it's not overly clear) thinks he has an idea for what would make Seattle better. Sort of. Well, not really.
One writer pitches idea that the Seattle Seahawks trade for quarterback Will Levis
There are times when reading articles when the reader might have to ask themselves, "Wait...when was this article actually published?" Such is the case with O'Malley's. It was published on July 15, 2025. That is important to point out because O'Malley pitches the Seahawks making a trade for the Tennessee Titans in order to acquire quarterback Will Levis.
O'Malley writes, "If the Titans are all-in on (first-round draft pick) Cam Ward, Levis becomes expendable. Seattleās QB depth behind Geno Smith is thin, and Levis fits the mold as a developmental backup with upside. Tennessee could recoup a mid-round pick and fully reset at quarterback."
O'Malley doesn't realize that things are even worse: Geno Smith no longer plays for the Seahawks. Perhaps, the writer meant to suggest that Will Levis should be traded to Smith's new team, the Las Vegas Raiders, instead of Seattle, because there is no room for Levis on the Seahawks roster.
Seattle has three quarterbacks already, and O'Malley doesn't say the Titans should get a quarterback back in return for Levis. Instead, Seattle would send a mid-round choice for Levis.

There is a lot wrong with the pitch. One, Levis is not worth a mid-round choice to any team, most likely. In two seasons and 21 starts, Levis has a quarterback rating of only 82.7 and has thrown 21 touchdown passes but 16 interceptions. He is nothing more than a low-end backup.
And yes, the Titans are going all-in on Cam Ward as he was the first pick in the 2025 draft. He will be the starter in Week 1 and for the foreseeable future in Nashville.
Sam Darnold is going to start for the Seahawks in Week 1. Should something happen to him, whether it be through inefficiency or injury, he will probably be replaced by backup Drew Lock, who has starting experience in the NFL and with Seattle. Ultimately, it could be rookie Jalen Milroe who takes over long-term at QB1, but not until 2026 at the earliest.
John Schneider has no reason to trade for Will Levis. Plus, if Levis was with the Seahawks and had to play, one could assume the season was doomed, just as the Titans' seasons have been when Levis was playing quarterback. Seattle is set at quarterback this year and probably in 2026, too.
