Micah Parsons throws Jerry Jones right under the bus amid contract snafu

The Dallas Cowboys are set to open training camp in a matter of days, and Micah Parsons has still yet to receive a long-term contract extension, one that could very well make him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history, as a new deal could pay him in excess of $40 million per season.

Now, for the most part, the four-time Pro Bowler has been pretty tame when discussing this ongoing saga. But as camp approaches, he's starting to get a little more aggressive with his comments. And in a recent appearance on the Six Feet Under podcast with WWE legend The Undertaker, Parsons took a direct shot at Jerry Jones and the entire Cowboys' front office.

"We obviously wanted to get done early,” Parsons said. "We want that relief off our backs. But, obviously, ownership is always gonna make it drag out, make it more complicated than it has to be. Lack of communication and that standpoint, but, you know, I just always say, God has me this far, he ain’t done with me yet, so, you know, I just keep working, keep going, and then when it comes, I’m gonna be ready. But, you know, ain’t gonna be no dropoff."

That's about as bold of a statement that Parsons has made throughout this process, wouldn't you say?

And we also couldn't help but notice that last sentence, which leads us to wonder if the Cowboys have expressed concerns about the level of his play once he gets paid. Because if that is indeed the case, it'd be easily understandable as to why Parsons has amped up his responses when asked what's going on.

Micah Parsons wanted to get his deal done with the Dallas Cowboys a year ago

The Undertaker, whose real name is Mark Calaway, by the way, then went on to bring up a couple of other lucrative contracts that could be coming down the pipeline soon. And while he didn't mention anyone by name, one can only assume he was referring to T.J. Watt, who's in line for an extension with the Pittsburgh Steelers, or Aidan Hutchinson, who will undoubtedly get big dollars from the Detroit Lions.

Parsons didn't mention Hutchinson but did end up mentioning Watt a little later in the interview. But not before he talked about teammates Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, both of whom received their big-money extensions last year, which is when No. 11 wanted to get his deal finalized as well.

"I will never understand it. We wanted to do the contract last year. It was just kind of like, 'We want to do Dak and CeeDee,' and then you go out there and perform again. And then, you know, you would think, alright, we'll get it done early. We know there are some guys that are about to get ready to get repaid, like Myles [Garrett], you know, Maxx [Crosby] is gone, so you would think like, hey, let's get ahead of that, you know what I mean?"

Parsons went on to say how he doesn't understand how players who consistently perform are sometimes made to wait, while others who have just one or maybe two good seasons get big contracts quickly.

"You can't want us to take less because you decided to wait."

One has to assume that the longer the Cowboys wait, the higher Micah Parsons' price tag is going to get.
