Browns Quinshon Judkins Suffers Latest Setback Amid Legal Issues

Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins is already in hot water and reportedly will not report to train ning camp. A second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Ohio State product was supposed to compete for the wide-open starting job following Nick Chubb’s departure. Instead, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports the running back will skip training camp to focus on his legal battles.

As of this posting, Judkins has not signed his rookie contract with the Browns.

Browns Quinshon Judkins to Skip Camp, Focus On Legal Battle

Just a few days ago, Quinshon Judkins was arrested on misdemeanor charges of battery and domestic violence. According to reports, the victim alleges that Judkins hit her in the arm and thigh. Due to the ongoing nature of this case, it would be irresponsible to speculate further on the matter.

With Quinshon Judkins skipping camp, the Cleveland Browns will have veteran Jerome Ford and fourth-round rookie Dylan Sampson battling for the starting job. Ford, now entering the final year of his contract, showed flashes of promise over the past two seasons as a solid, yet unremarkable, starting back. During his three years in the league, the veteran has recorded 1,390 yards and seven touchdowns on 316 attempts (4.4 yards per carry). Sampson, meanwhile, is a fourth-round rookie who probably would have been a Day 2 pick had he not declared in such a loaded running back class.

Also on the depth chart is journeyman Pierre Strong. A fourth-round pick of the New England Patriots, Strong spent one season with former head coach Bill Belichick before being traded to Cleveland in 2023. Projected to be fighting for a roster spot, Strong has recorded 499 yards and two touchdowns on 99 professional carries.
