Chelsea and Arsenal are closely monitoring the future of Xavi Simons, with both clubs among those informed about the Dutch midfielder’s situation ahead of a potential summer move.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Simons is prepared to leave RB Leipzig — a stance that has remained unchanged since May — and several top Premier League sides are attentive to developments.
Although no bids or official talks have taken place yet, the interest is building. Simons, 22, has excelled during his time at Leipzig following a move from Paris Saint-Germain, showcasing his creativity, versatility, and flair in both central and wide attacking roles. His ability to operate across the midfield and in more advanced positions has made him a standout option for clubs seeking dynamism in the final third.
Arsenal, in particular, have been exploring the market for a player who can offer exactly that kind of profile. Mikel Arteta’s squad has lacked a consistent creative presence who can switch between central and wide areas — someone who can relieve the burden on Martin Ødegaard and rotate effectively with the likes of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli. While the Gunners have also been tracking Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, Simons presents a younger, potentially higher-upside alternative.
Eze, 27, has been on Arsenal’s radar for months, admired for his ball-carrying ability and goal threat. However, his price tag and importance to Palace mean negotiations would likely be complex. Simons, by contrast, is valued at 70million euros, but may be available at a cheaper price, with Leipzig needing to raise funds after missing out on Champions League football.
Barcelona have also been loosely linked with Simons, but Romano confirms that nothing concrete has developed with the Catalan club so far. With PSG holding control over his future, and Simons eager for top-level football, the coming weeks could see movement — especially if Arsenal or Chelsea decide to firm up their interest.
