Eagles Star Jalen Hurts Ranked Among NFL’s Top Franchise Players

Fresh off winning Super Bowl MVP, Jalen Hurts has cemented himself as one of the top performers of his generation. Though his perception around the league is slightly polarizing, many still agree that the Philadelphia Eagles have one of the NFL's top building blocks.

Since taking over as the Eagles' starting QB, Hurts has yielded big results for the franchise. Philadelphia has been to the Super Bowl twice during his tenure, and was able to secure a championship last season. On top of this, Hurts nearly secured MVP honors in the regular season back in 2022 after leading the Eagles to a 14-1 record.

Critics try to discredit Hurts because of the system that has been built around him. While the Eagles have one of the league's deeper rosters, they succeed at the highest level because of their QB. He is a strong leader the team rallies behind, and his versatile skill set allows the offense to be so dynamic.

Before training camp gets underway, the people at Bleacher Report put together a ranking of the top franchise players in the NFL right now. Hurts nearly came in at the top spot, slotting in at No. 3. The only players put ahead of him were Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson.

"Yes, Hurts doesn't always produce jaw-dropping numbers. He's supported by a terrific supporting cast, headlined by skill-position stars like A.J. Brown, Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith. His career stat line, which includes 55 rushing touchdowns, is buoyed by a terrific offensive line and Philly's infamous 'Tush Push,'" wrote BR's Kristopher Knox. "However, Hurts has played consistently well and has often been at his best in the brightest moments. He's guided the Eagles to the postseason in all four years as a full-time starter and has appeared in two Super Bowls, winning one."

Heading into the 2025 campaign, Hurts has an opportunity to continue showing the football world why he is a top "franchise guy." After being able to retain most of last year's roster, the Eagles are primed to go on another Super Bowl run. As the leader of the offense, it falls on Hurts to make sure this collection of talent continues to fire on all cylinders.

Hurts and the Eagles will begin their quest for a second straight championship in less than a week when training camp gets underway.
